Heaven's Hands in Haiti

Julie

FOUNDER

Julie’s love for the country and the people of Haiti began in 2015 after a church-sponsored mission trip changed her life forever.  Six active years later, Julie began Heaven’s Hands in Haiti to have a more direct impact in the lives of the children she fell in love with.

Heaven’s Hands in Haiti has partners on the ground in Haiti (we will keep his name private for safety purposes). He is an educated man who can read and write in English. He is a father, husband, son, and brother, and he is a trusted man of God. He is able to provide/communicate detailed information regarding the families. He is a true partner, giving suggestions and providing insight from a Haitian prospective. He is responsible for the following:

  • Enrolling the children & young adults in school
  • Purchasing school supplies & uniforms/shoes
  • Providing families with supplementary food
  • Visiting homes or making phone calls to check on the well being of the families
  • Celebrating birthdays with a cake or a small gift of their choice
  • Keeping contact between Julie, donors, and the Haitian families

ABOUT US

Hi, I’m Julie. As a wife and mother of two, with a passion for organization and outreach, my life was forever changed in 2015. My journey and relationship with Haiti began with a way-out-of-my-comfort-zone mission trip to Good Neighbor Orphanage in Arcahaie, about one hour NW of Port-au-Prince. The moment I looked into the eyes of the children, I was in love; they took hold of my heart forever.

As riots in the country increased over the next years, less and less missionaries served in Haiti, and the COVID pandemic eventually halted other support systems. The orphanage financially collapsed, forcing the children back into impoverished family units. Originally, the children came to Good Neighbor as orphans of poverty after the devastating earthquake in 2010. Yet another displacement was going to be difficult, both financially and emotionally. I knew that the children and their families would need support and love moving forward. Most of the families would struggle to feed the children. And paying for schooling would be close to impossible.

Heaven’s Hands In Haiti strives to bridge the gap between the children’s previous support from Good Neighbor Orphanage to their current situations. These basic needs include: food, clothing, personal hygiene, and pursuing their education goals, as well as, job creation. I consider all the children as family. My desire in founding this non-profit is to support and love my Haiti babies so that one day they can make a positive change in their country.
